A “living wage” means you can afford to pay rent and bills, have groceries, have insurance, and be able to retire BEFORE you die of old age. That easily means at least $30k a year as of 2016.
Federal minimum wage in the US is $7.25/hr. 40 hour week, 52 weeks, after taxes, that nets $14k.
NOT paying to fix the issue is what breaks the economy. The “minimum wage” system in the US is a fucking joke.
