So yesterday I went to my career advisor to specifically talk about working in the service industry. Super nice woman, also very thin. So we talked about my prospects and I mentioned that I would focus on other things then waitering since they wouldn’t pick a fat person anyway.
She looked shocked, like I had just pooped in the punchbowl.
So I asked her “when was the last time you saw a fat waiter?”, she couldn’t answer but muttered something about “that’s not how it should be” Of course that’s not how it should be, but that’s the way it is after all, I thought to myself, but held my tongue because I didn’t want to make a thing of it. I’m just saying, it always takes me back how thin people never have to acknowledge the things fat people have to accept.
