Every law boils down to (or at least *should* boil down to) the same basic premise that you are free to do what you want, provided you don’t use that freedom to take away other people’s freedom, or to endanger other people.
Freedom of speech is a law that protects people who would otherwise be silenced and oppressed. Freedom of speech is not designed to protect people who use their speech to silence and oppress others.
So fuck J.K.Rowling for defending Trump.
Trump is using his freedom of speech to incite hatred and violence against entire racial and cultural groups, and to call for the interning and exploitation of those groups.
What that means is Trump is quite literally using his freedom to take away other people’s freedom and endanger other people.
