From time to time, I get weird looks from people when I talk about the living arrangements of my mom and sister. My sister and brother in law have a decent sized home that has included a mother in law suite in it. My mom and her husband live in that suite and are helping to raise my sister’s two young kids and intend to live there indefinitely.
Most people have to take a moment to process it as something not worth remarking on. Apparently tho my mom’s childhood friend doesn’t think it’s right and the two of them got in a big fight this weekend. What the fuck is wrong with people?? Apparently my mom ‘talks to her grandkids’ too much and all she’s teaching her grandson is that ‘he can reach you whenever he wants.’ Of course my mom’s response was, ‘you’re damn right that’s what I’m teaching him!’
Just holy shit.
My niece and nephew are so freaking well cared for because they essentially have four parental figures and that’s awesome and it’s a damn shame that this society taught us that it’s not cool. Wtf ughggjgghsj
