it’s that time of year…. let this serve as your official reminder that dia de los muertos is not an extension of halloween. it’s a very important holiday meant to celebrate and honor the loved ones that are no longer with us. it’s not there for you to probe and pick from for your spooky gothic aesthetic. participate by sharing stories of your loved ones, cleaning off/sprucing up their headstones, and/or placing marigolds in your home so their spirits can find you – not by wearing our culture as a costume. keep their memory alive but keep the appropriation of dia de los muertos at bay !

I see a lot of people sitting back unconcerned about developing events in the US because “fuck the military”
But please consider
》This means there will now be significantly more trans people unemployed after having a brief opportunity to be themselves, when finding a new job as a trans person already creates additional hurdles to overcome
》The number of trans folks, many of whom enlist for finacial desperation while being unsure of their identity, who are now forced to stay closeted
》This sparks yet another national dialogue encouraging hatred targeting the trans community while people question our existence and will inevitably lead to harm
Please stand with the Trans community while we fight together against so much of the evil from this administration ~Krystal
Also MANY trans people rely on their military benefits to afford to transition
and the military also provides access to university level education for many people
AND… Many people do not understand their gender very well at 18 or 19 when they sign up for a 4 year legal commitment.
This really isn’t about the military, it’s about people being told they’re not good enough to have the same rights as everyone else. That their existence is a problem that harms others who are just trying to do their job. Like, okay, you can’t serve in the military because your existence would be a burden and a disruption to all the ‘normal’ people…what else will your existence disrupt?
Possibly you shouldn’t work in education, or government, or law enforcement, or health care…because those professions also have priorities that cannot be ‘disrupted’ by your transness. ‘Normal’ people can’t be burdened with having to deal with you.
Also, you chose this yourself, so you chose to exclude yourself from serving your country, do you REALLY deserve the right to have a say in how it’s run, in benefiting from the same rights and privileges as ‘normal’ people who are not making things difficult for everyone by being trans?
Like honestly, I’m not surprised the movement to take away trans rights and further diminish trans people’s social statuses started with the military, which is incredibly important in US culture, and still a benchmark for due respect in so many ways. ‘Thank you for your service’ and ‘Support our troops’ are not phrases used globally the way they appear in the American everyday.
that first map tho… damn
read the asterisk tho…
“First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can’t agree with your methods of direct action;” who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a “more convenient season.”
Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.“

Hey, internet friend, I’m making this public without tagging you because I think I need help helping you.
Depression, or whatever other mental illness you have, is LYING to you.
You don’t deserve this because it’s not a punishment, it’s an illness.
You don’t need a goal, a reason, an excuse to fight for your life.
You don’t need a justification to exist.
You are not worthless because no human being is worthless.
You actually also pretty fucking cool.
You don’t have to like yourself or be happy with yourself or feel like you’re all right in order to fight. In fact that’s a paradox- if you were happy with yourself you wouldn’t feel like shit and you wouldn’t be in danger of dying from depression.
And depression lies to you about EVERYTHING.
It doesn’t want to allow you to have ANY joy or confidence or comfort.
Fuck it.
The facts are simple: you are in a deep hole full of darkness. If you stay there, you will die. Maybe now, maybe in twenty years, but you will suffer and die.
If you try to climb out, you will suffer. You will suffer a LOT. But you will encounter more options on the way up than in that hole.
Because there is NOTHING down there.
I know because I’ve been there. I’ve been stuck there for a long time. Some days, more often than I’d like, I slip from where I am and I can smell that darkness, I can feel how cold it is below. Some days, I’m walking on a very thin wire right above that abyss, and it feels hopeless, like I’m doomed to fall.
Climb. Crawl. Sit up. Look up. Lift one finger. The middle finger. If that’s all you can do today, it’s still fighting. If all you can do is breathe ‘fuck you’ to the darkness, do it. If you can’t even do that, just hold on to the knowledge that you are being lied to. That’s still fighting.
Refuse to be beaten.
Fight.
You don’t need a reason.
All the reasons you want to die are lies.
You don’t need a reason to live.
FIGHT.
Also, I am sorry but I’m not gonna bullshit you here. Depression is a lonely fucking fight which you gotta be prepared to fight alone. Yes, people will get tired of you, they will be afraid of you, they will retreat because they will be afraid of making things worse, they will vanish because they won’t know how to help, or because they just don’t have enough strength to handle your depression as well as their own problems. Even the ones who care.
That doesn’t matter. All that matters is you.
FIGHT.
It’s important to know that hijab is banned in schools in most of the european countries, such as france, belgium, switzerland etc. Millions of girls have to take their hijab off everyday in order to have access to education, and I am one of them. Please spread this as much as possible, it has become so normal here that I feel like a fool for even mentioning it, but I’m pretty sure it goes against the human rights. This senseless law has been on since 2004 and pretends that all the students have to be “equal” and it is prohibited to show that you belong to any religion, any religious sign must be set aside. However, most of us have to take our hijab off in schools where you can clearly see a christmas tree or a christian cross. “Yeah but it’s not the same”, they say. Tell me about double standards. I pray for days when we don’t have to chose between religion and education.
