i do like the idea of being able to block people

Sometimes people who hold bigoted beliefs will reconsider those beliefs if someone they follow and respect shows them a different perspective on it. I know I’ve changed my mind about issues because of tumblr posts I read. There’s a chance that something I post or reblog will change someone else’s mind. As long as people aren’t actively annoying me, they’re welcome to keep following me. Maybe if they stick around long enough they’ll learn something.

Of course, if they *are* actively annoying me (starting tedious debates, harassing me in my ask box, etc.) then, in that case, I want to savor the pleasure of blocking them myself. Blocking bigots is so satisfying. Way more satisfying than asking them to unfollow me. Every time I hit that block button I feel powerful. I’m the god of my little domain.
