sometimes i’m like “why am i still here” but then i realize that i’m often the only person who is around to take bad-to-eat stuff out of my dog’s mouth and i think there’s this sort of western idea of “if youre not CEO youre nothing special” but my dog is still alive bc of me and i’m still alive bc of other people so maybe i’m just here to pet cats and wear sweaters and help people take the glass out of their mouth. you know? maybe i won’t be CEO but maybe i’ll be able to help somebody afford their trip home. and i think that’s pretty okay, you know?
if anything you should be proud & folks should be ashamed to be modern day CEOs
OK BUT THE THREAD??? Tumblr this is what kills me, you screenshot an amazing Tweet but don’t link to the source or UNROLL THE THREAD! So then I have to go read Twitter myself and lose my entire goddamn mind. Anyway!
There was another amazing thread on how fucked the Domino’s pothole-filling squad was, but this was from the same poster so it was easy to find. The other thread was about the concept of “prevailing wage” and how Domino’s was surely paying their workers minimum, meaning the job wasn’t going to skilled tradesmen and is further aiding the slippage of the former middle classes into poverty, but now I can’t find it. Anyway! There’s some underpinnings for that punchline.
You can be depressed and not feel sad or blue. Depression can also be a haze of sleepiness, distractedness/obsessiveness cycles, and a twinge of irritability that can be hard to recognize because you might already be a “fiery” person. It can feel like a lazy Sunday that keeps imposing itself for weeks or months.
This is my favourite one of these I’ve done! Gift for a friend, a tyrannotaur made from plastic toys. Experimenting with using a mixture of cornstarch and PVA glue to fill in the gaps.
I am the friend and I stubbornly call it a centaursaurus because death of the author and she lives at my house
so anyway I just turned around to admire my centaursaurus and… something seems different
There are two sides to every coin and sometimes you can’t
show the internet both sides bc you need to wait until the friend you gave the
first side to has it in their house and then swap the second side with it and
see how long it takes them to notice (several days) but here’s the tyrannotaur
and the dinosorse together pals for life
In my experience, right about the time you start thinking you should maybe go to see a chiro/physio, you should have started going a few years before 😛
I’ve had issues with my neck for the longest time, and I always attributed it to having a desk job and always being at computers. (And it certainly does not help my situation.) But it never once occurred to me that that in of itself was reason enough to seek some level of professional care.
We are often trained to ignore our discomfort and pain, which means we often ignore the early warning signs that something we are doing is detrimental to our well being. Whether it’s something we’re doing at work, something that happened a long time ago, or we just need a general tune up for our mental and physical well being.
It doesn’t have to be worse than it is for you to seek care.
You are allowed to get treatment of some kind before it gets worse.
Do you have a place near you that does professional massages? Sometimes chiropractors will offer those services too (or have someone on staff who is trained in body work). I’d suggest starting with something like that to see if a professional massage helps to release the muscle tension. It won’t be a one off event though, usually it can take about 6 weeks of treatment to see real benefit and for your body to take to what is being done to it—so don’t be upset if you don’t get immediate relief from something. Best of luck, and take care ❤
The best way I know to find a good physical therapy/massage/chiro/please-fix-my-pain person is to find the nearest thing to a professional athlete and ask them who they go to. In a rural area that may be the ballet teacher. Personal trainers are likely to know who’s been able to help their clients too. It’s almost certainly okay to hit people up on Facebook out of the blue to ask if they have a rec – IME people are thrilled to spread the gospel of the People What Can Actually Fix The Thing.
