Tom Holland defending his partner’s pronouns.

The thing that gets me here is that Tom is trying to correct the interviewer subtly, giving them a chance to avoid being ‘called out’ as people claim to hate.

He responds by saying his ‘partner’ in place of girlfriend and ‘them’ in place of the pronoun the interviewer would assume.

This is a clever way to offer people a chance to correct themselves when they don’t have the right words. He’s giving them the right words by doing it like this.

So when people are lamenting on how people are always calling them out, I have to take a moment to breathe because how many times did the person try and give them a chance to fix it before finally snapping?

Listen to the people you’re talking with. Use their language when they’re talking about things they know more about than you, i.e. their *own* partner.
