A couple days ago I said it was time to start acting up about gun violence.

The students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were way ahead of me.

This is a major development. The media is already very comfortable with grief. The instantaneous, articulate, organized, public, and shaming anger of these survivors is not part of that script. It is breaking people out of the state of frozen despair in which many of us older people have been sunk since the Newtown massacre. 

The resilience, courage, intelligence, and anger of these survivors is has opened up a space for action and the crime and the shame is ours if we do not help them. This is the movement. Get on board and get behind it and be ready to step up when the people who are leading it now need a break.
