If you want to pretty up as a matter of personal aesthetic, that’s entirely legit. You do what makes you happy.

But here’s a secret: you’re allowed to look like a total swamp monster, and that does not diminish your worth. You don’t owe it to anyone to be pretty, and you don’t need to be pretty to be freakin’ awesome.
