YO PSA!!!
If you get a link like this from one of your tumblr buddies, DON’T OPEN IT!!! IT’S NOT THEM THAT SENT IT!!!! IT’LL FUCK UP YOUR TUMBLR AND SEND THE LINK TO OTHERS ON YOUR ACCOUNT.
EDIT: Shit! I might have to make a new account. This is screwing up my tumblr and one of my side blogs has been deleted.Too bad I didnt see this sooner.
If you get some random message from me guys, heres a thing.Friends I am a huge weenie and unless we’ve spoken a few times before I’ll probably be Too Scared to send you a PM–I usually send asks first making sure you’re comfortable with it. So if you get this sort of thing from me, don’t trust it!
For those who can’t see, somebody will message you on messenger with a tinyurl link and try to tell you somebody wrote something about you on their blog.
Don’t click the link, and if you did, change your password immediately if you still have access to your account.
Be safe!
if someone sends stuff via your pm without your knowledge, your account has been hacked. easiest way to avoid this is having a strong password:

The objective is to create a password with 3 qualities
Is neither a proper noun nor a word in the dictionary.
Is complex enough that it resists repetition attacks.
Is intuitive enough that you can still remember it.
A security expert talked to staff at my school about setting strong passwords for data protection (because children) and his advise was a PassSentence. For example:
I Graduated Notre Dame University 2002.
That then becomes igndu2002, or igndu02, or even ig20nd02u. You see the point. To the hacker, it’s a string of random letter and numbers. To you, there’s a memory cue to help you. The longer it is the better. Try to avoid something really obvious (e.g. My Birthday Is 010978 = mbi010978). And, depending on the website, you can throw in a punctuation mark to spice it up (e.g. 20ig02@ndu).
All good advice. I’d add too that just, generally speaking, if you recieve a message that feels at all strange, comunicate a little further with whoever messages you before opening the link. Often these hacks some in, send the message, and then are gone, leaving the actual user to see your response and go ??? I did’t send that or to explain the link they sent further.
Also… just always Google or type links to login pages yourself all the time. Just to play it safe, never sign into websites through a login link sent to you by anyone/anything else.
