The town that my husband & I got married in is going to burn down tonight.
And worse, I’m pretty sure there are people who are trapped there with only one road out that’s not blocked by fire.
This is the MODIS map as of this morning. The town of Ojai is trapped in that strip of highway between the red and yellow, and you can see that the only way they have out now is past the red (recently active) fire near Carpenteria. The map only gives some of the truth though, because that road winds around between valleys that are easy for the fire to jump. There’s not a lot of detailed information coming out because firefighting is active & volatile.
No new fires overnight though, which is promising. We’re still at 4 uncontained wildfires in DECEMBER which is unprecedented.
I hadn’t heard about the fires since one of the last big hurricanes. That’s absurd!! And super scary!! 😖
