nonbinarypastels:

Sexual abuse, sexual assault and rape survivors who don’t come forward about what happened to them for many years (or at all) are not in any way, shape, or form responsible for anything their assailant goes on to do or any other person their assailant goes on to victimize.

They are not responsible for the crimes their assailants go on to commit after them. They are not responsible for their assailant not getting caught/not getting caught sooner. The responsibility in these cases is always 100% on the perpetrator themself as they are the only one in control of their own actions.

If you can’t wrap  your head around WHY a survivor of a sex crime would wait to come forward or would choose not to come forward at all, the subject is one that has been discussed hundreds (if not thousands) of times and there is absolutely nothing stopping you from choosing to educate yourself on the subject rather than shaming survivors and trying to make them feel at fault for the actions of their assailants.

Survivors are not responsible—or guilty—for what our abusers do to us much less what they do to anyone else.
