Snopes article that confirms Abe’s opposition to racial equality.

“During his famous debates with Sen. Stephen Douglas, Lincoln explained to the crowd: “I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races … I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races from living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be a position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”Lincoln was no different than most white males, North and South, at the time. He was a white supremacist.”

Ugh…. yeah….. this fucker was racist af and everything we were taught in elementary school about how much of a White Savior™ he is for “freeing the slaves” is all a damn lie. His statues can burn as well.

The reason why we say he freed all the slaves is because he signed the Emancipation Proclamation that DID free all the slaves!!!!

In the North.

Where there were no slaves to free.

The Emancipation Proclamation didn’t apply to the South because this was during the Civil War, after the South had left, so since they weren’t considered a part of the US anymore, the EP didn’t apply to them.

So, yeah. He actually freed no one.

Not art but just a reminder that these schools be spreading lies stay fucking woke people

Actually it specifically didn’t free the slaves in the border states that belonged to the Union. It was a legal order to disrupt the southern economy because before the Union soldiers had no legal right to free the slaves of plantation owners (who were largely confederates) and stop them from producing goods and continuing to fund the war.

So yes, it immediately freed no one at all. The people it applied to were by definition not taking orders from the Union.

Shoutout to my 11th grade APUSH teacher for passing out an essay entitled “Abraham Lincoln was a white supremacist” and actually teaching us something important

If you were a little Black kid and your Grandmama or your mama or your daddy had copies of jet or ebony there was a ad that was always a full-page ad about Abraham Lincoln and his true position on slavery and Black folk/race it’s a book called forced into Glory Abraham Lincoln’s white dream.
