“logic > feelings” is a really funny motto when you realize that 90% of redpillers stone cold ignore well-cited and medically/statistically based accounts of racism/sexism/homophobia/trans people literally existing. like what does logic mean to u. smug anime girl icons?
also note, logic and feelings aren’t antonyms, u can be empathetic and rational at the same time yah emotionally stunted shits
As someone who was part of the hardcore online atheist community that a lot of the redpill/MRA/alt-right community evolved from, I can kinda explain this.
“Facts over feelings” was a pretty common mantra in the “skeptic” circles. It was often used when talking about creationists in how evolution is a scientific fact, and it didn’t matter if they felt the Bible was literal. This was enormously common.
This community was mostly made up of cishet white dudes. So when intersectional feminism started gaining a lot of traction online in the early 2010s, it was around the time when a lot of these guys were losing interest in debating creationists. So, because they felt attacked by the feminists, they directed their attention to them, under the impression they could treat them the same as the creationists they had previously argued against. Ignorant to the fact that intersectional feminism, unlike Biblical literalism, is the result of facts and studies.
However, already under the impression that “I’m right and everyone else is delusional”, the community felt that because feminism angered & challenged them & made them feel the same feelings that creationists did, that they could be treated the same.
And so, the obsession with “logic” and the mantra of “facts over feelings” carried over to the anti-feminist & current right-wing reactionary movement.
this is fucking enlightening
