my two cents about pornhub trying getting a bunch of good publicity lately by plowing roads, posting a sex ed page, & disabling “straight” porn on women’s day:

y’all should spend less time making jokes about pornhub and more time supporting sex workers politically, socially & financially for their work instead of supporting a site that profits off devaluing their labor

yeah if you can, buy porn from sex workers. If you really can’t afford anything or don’t want to, try streaming sites (where you can give camgirls extra viewers as payment) like myfreecams, etc (or perhaps other sites that allow trans women <.<)

Didn’t pornhub just give out like student grants or something to sex workers

Isn’t every single video on pornhub stolen work from sex workers, uploaded without their consent, and from which they make $0.00?

#the answer is yes #stealing work and then paying back literally nothing to a select few is literally evil?

MindGeek is destroying the porn industry like its.. a big problem

http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/technology/2014/10/mindgeek_porn_monopoly_its_dominance_is_a_cautionary_tale_for_other_industries.html

I’m thoroughly convinced this has so little notes because people would rather giggle about how “chaotic good” pornhub is and keep using it instead of offering up the fact that they are stealing from people who can’t afford to be stolen from.

Genuine question: Isn’t Pornhub’s content uploaded like youtube? Is the problem that they don’t do anything to remove sex worker content that has been uploaded there? Or is it something else?

I know a lot of other “Tube” sites (the best example being Youtube) have sections to report stolen/copyrighted content, and they have to take it down under penalty of legal action. What seperates Mindgeek/Pornhub from this?

I’m not trying to play Devil’s Advocate. I just never really go on Pornhub and am unfamiliar with the mechanics of the controversy.

Nearly (as in more than 99.9%) all of the content on porn sites like pornhub, xtube, redtube, xvideos, is stolen work from sex workers.

Pornhub and Youtube are wildly differnt. Pornhub (and every free porn site really) works like: Random customers (usually) will download a video from a paid site (or by buying the vid straight from the sex worker) and then upload that video somewhere else, making it accessible for free (i.e. people get access to their work without paying), on sites like those listed above.

Also, nearly every camgirl has every live show they ever do systemically stolen by bot-sites that autorecord and upload them.

DMCA requests to remove work are ignored. All of them. DMCA requests do not work. Even when a video is say, nonconsensually recorded and uploaded to the internet by another person, free porn sites do not respond to DMCA notices. *cough revenge porn sites cough*

Not to mention you’re hard pressed to even find a single video of yours, much less the multiple copies of every video on every site, every single time someone uploads it, and then file a DMCA request for every one, and follow up on every single one to make sure that the site has responded to the DMCA requests.

Do ya get where I’m going with this?

There’s not enough time in the day even if you didn’t have to eat sleep or work.

Seriously, pay for your porn. Do not consume stolen work. Do not continue exploiting sex workers. Just pay for your porn or watch some camgirls and pay by giving them extra viewership (chaturbate is decent, imo).

Also, filing a DMCA request reveals your legal details both to the site and the original uploader- something that is far more dangerous to a porn performer than to most of the general public.
