that’s already how it is in australia

and because it’s compulsory, it’s regulated on a national level to be super accessible. the australian electoral commission is the same everywhere. you have heaps of time to vote ahead of election day, by phone, online or at a post office. the polling stations are in schools and community centers – places which have easy lines of transport. you need id – drivers licence or pension card or passport or whatever, but it’s very easy to enrol. 

australia’s fucked in plenty of ways, but our electoral process is extremely sensible and i love it.
