You can not hold up fiction and creative works as being so important because of their innate ability to affect people and connect people to new experiences and to evoke emotional responses…..

And then turn around and act surprised and offended when people tell you that a problematic piece of fiction, shockingly enough, had an affect on people.

You can not do it. It does not work. STOP. TRYING.

You can’t say “it’s just fiction” when it’s convenient for you.
