Back in 2015, the Jewish population of France decreased by 100,000 people in one year. Here’s how it happened:

1. WHITE NATIONALIST and 45 buddy Marine LePen begins whipping up anti-Jewish sentiment 
2. Incidents of anti-Semitic graffiti begin. Bomb threats begin. Cemeteries are damaged. (x)(x)
3. Then it escalates. Businesses are targeted and graffitied with things like “all Jews must die.” Jewish people are harassed on the street. (x)(x)(x)
4. Then, a Jewish day school is shot up. Multiple people die. That same year, a Jewish woman is raped by French nationals BECAUSE she is Jewish. A synagogue is set on fire.
5. Shortly after the Charlie Hebdo shooting, two gunmen take hostages in a kosher supermarket on a Friday afternoon. Four people are murdered and the only reason anyone survives is because a young, West African Muslim man hides people in the walk in fridge. The incident goes almost completely ignored by the press. One reporter asks a French Holocaust survivor if she thought the attacks were deserved “Because of Israel.“ 
6. The president says he’s going to focus on targeting anti-Semitic crime. No further actions are detailed and nothing improves.
7. French Jews begin to leave en masse for Israel and elsewhere because what would you do?

We are on step two, but things escalate from step two to step three VERY fast. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: Jewish people are extremely easy to target. We are only 0.2% of the world population, but we mostly live in large cities and our schools and places of worship are easy to identify. We have specifically marked cemeteries, schools, community centers. One person could strike a major blow to the Jewish community with horrifying ease. I am begging you all, don’t let this escalate to step two. I have always had a complicated relationship with my American identity, but, when it comes down to it, this is my home. I don’t want to leave.
