We need to talk about the fact that Trump’s cabinet is trying to build a relationship with the media similar to that of North Korea. It may seem comical that his cabinet wants to call it “alternative facts,” but the fact that they are outright lying about verifiable facts without an ounce of fear of ridicule or care is incredibly terrifying and we absolutely must not let them get away with building a fake image for Trump and his failures.
This isn’t the first time they’ve done this. There is an obsessive need to build a false, almost comically inflated image of Trump and his cabinet (“the highest IQ”) and it seems hilarious at first, but keep in mind the kind of image North Korea has built for its government and the blatant propaganda it spreads. Let’s also talk about the threats from the White House to “rethink [their] relationship” with the press for criticizing and pointing out their lies.
The reason why we see videos of people like Betsy DeVos getting roasted on live television and keeping her incredibly unsettling smile is because this cabinet doesn’t care if they’re underqualified and doesn’t care about verifiable facts; they’re a basket of deplorables who know they will get the positions anyway, and will not be swayed by facts that contradict their supposed policy. It’s not because they are stupid, it’s because they are leeches who are only looking to fill their own pockets, and while they know damned well that things like climate change are real, they don’t care because they’re more interested in their monetary relationship with the oil industry, for example. It has NOTHING to do with ideals or wanting to be right; they are wrong and THEY KNOW IT, but they are trash and don’t care what damage they cause along the way as long as they can scam the American people out of every penny they can grab.
They don’t HAVE to care. You’re referring to a group whose socio-economic positions allows them the privilege of reaping the highest rewards from their actions while at the same time insulating them from any consequences.
When resources become poisoned, destroyed, or restricted, they will always – always – have access to what remains. For what remains increases in value, and control of which further solidifies their place in a power structure.
^BINGO! This is exactly why I don’t believe in playing nice or taking the high road with people like this. They are dangerous, because they don’t care about truths or morals or ethics, only about their own growth of power at the cost of everyone else. Trying to meet them in a match of facts vs. lies or ethical ideals vs. unethical ones will yield no results because they are beyond the point of caring about these things, and while I 100% believe it is important for the general population to be able to distinguish between facts and falsehoods while keeping themselves educated on political issues (supremely important, in all honesty), when it comes to fighting against the bottom of the barrel of humanity these people are, you cannot appeal to them with facts or ethics. It simply will not work. You have to hold them accountable for their actions with absolutely zero pity or compassion, with cold detachment and calculated, unyielding push back for every step they take forward. Do not play nice with these people; do not tell your fellow oppressed brothers and sisters that they should “spread love and not hate”; people like this have ZERO scruples and they absolutely benefit from your kindness at the cost of EVERYONE ELSE, INCLUDING YOURSELF. They do not deserve forgiveness or chances to prove themselves ethical and well meaning when they have already proven beyond a doubt that they simply are neither.
Done playing “the higher ground”, the “baddies” just play dirty and takes advantage when you do. Humanity is at stake, need to fight them every which way we can.
I keep thinking about this with things like abortion. Everyone fuckig knows that you make abortion illegal or inaccessible alongside sex ex and contraceptive than abortion rates go up and more women die from unsafe abortions. But people know that. It’s a verifiable fact that has wen proven.
We’ve argued and argued the facts about abortion. But people don’t care. It’s not tht they want to stop abortion. It’s not that they want to protect a baby fetus. It’s that they want to see women suffer for daring to take autonomy over their own bodies.
I feel like half the arguments with them go round in circles. They know you’re right, but what they are hiding is the fact that they really don’t give a shit about the facts. Thy want people to suffer for being different. They want control. They want money. And thy don’t care about morality or facts. That’s why a debate can never be won against people like this
