Bella as the villain??

I know its weird. I can’t remember where I first heard that idea maybe doug walker. But I thought it was cool. I mean she causes a lot of trouble, as like a jerk(though edward and jacob are arguably worse), puts her needs above others and it would a great subversion of the genre

I’ve seen some of Doug Walker’s stuff, and it’s generally been good (even met him briefly), but I couldn’t read the attached article as soon as I realized he wasn’t altering the story to turn Bella into some mystical creature from the beginning. I just have a recoil at the idea of the average/normal teenage girl (selfishness and all (see: teenager)) as the villain when there’s a 100 year old dude watching her sleep and stalking her. It is always 100% the job of the older, more powerful person in a dynamic to say no and control themselves. (re: Edward. Jacob could be a different story in that regard, though their playing field is far more even.)

Not trying to say you shouldn’t have this head canon or enjoy that narrative, I just can’t peer down that rabbit hole personally. I have a lot of problems with Bella’s portrayal but I would definitely have turned her into some long lived mystical creature: enemy to vampires, if I wanted her as a villain. lol
