On their official website, in the section on women’s rights (here), they state:
“We urge that the term ‘sex work’ not be used in relation to prostitution. With the increasing conflation of trafficking (the violent and illegal trafficking in women and girls for forced sex) with prostitution, it is impossible to know which is which, and what violence the term ‘sex work’ is masking.”
This is insultingly absurd. Women are capable of deciding what to do with our own bodies and under which circumstances we consent to sex.
This idea that it is “impossible to know” when women have consented to sex or not is horrifying. Just ask them. If they are women over the age of 18 who are able to give legal consent under any other circumstances except when being compensated, and they assure you that the sex was consensual, and the person paying for the sex does as well, then it was. That’s how you know. By respecting women and trusting our judgement.
This swerf bullshit is nothing short of anti-woman.
Also, the Greens are decidely pandering to the anti-vax movement by criticizing the vaccine approval process (which is pretty damn air tight and takes over a decade) and claiming that there aren’t medical exemptions in the US (which is bullshit for every single state.) Oh, and Jill Sten deleted a tweet saying that there’s no evidence linking vaccines to autisms to her not being aware of evidence for the link. Pandering to ableist anti-vaxers at it’s finest!
There are other issues as well: Jill Stein has no experience at anything more than a local level (which is a common criticism I see of Trump), there are zero Greens in Congress to get shit done, and there are nowhere near enough votes for the party in the national election to do anything more than draw votes away from Hillary (and the most progressive party platform in US history). The Green Party is also heavily focusing on GMOs, despite no evidence of their harm.
Stop acting like the Greens are perfect, are better. They aren’t. They are different, they have their warts, and they are not incorruptible. They are not a party that has a chance to govern effectively. “Protest votes” didn’t do shit in 2000 to “send the establishment a lesson!”, and that was against Bush, who – I have to admit – is way less of an evil fuckbag than Trump. (The same cannot be said about Dick Cheney) Trump is not a joke. His party platform, his outlook, his rhetoric is damaging. He would be a complete disaster as a president. Hell, he’s a disaster as a candidate.
If you want your vote and ideals to count, get your ass out there on the ground. Work at a local level. Get people who have solid, inclusive, and progressive platforms on your city councils and state legislatures. Work on getting important bills passed in your state. If you really want to fucking do something, then do something more than throw a tantrum at the voting booth.
