Sex Ed in public schools should be part of the yearly curriculum, it should be fact-based, and it should be relevant and thorough for all students including LGBT+ students.

fandomsandfeminism:

It should not presume that all students receiving education are cis and heterosexual. It should not presume that all students receiving education have parents and grandparents that are cis and heterosexual.

It should cover multiple forms on contraception and sexual protection- including methods more commonly used in same-sex intercourse and methods that’s primary goal is preventing the spread of STIs, not just stopping pregnancy.

It should cover issues of consent, both in sexual and non-sexual contexts.

It should cover issues of relationship abuse, physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse and the resources available to help people in abusive situations. Including resources specific to men, and resources specific to LGBT+ people.

We need to STOP viewing public school sex ed as Anatomy Class + Abstinence-Only advocacy, and start reforms to make it comprehensive, inclusive, and meaningful for all students.
