Trans women should portray trans women

You know what? I tagged this post about trans actresses directors should call “you can call me too” but I think maybe it came off facetious. I’m dead god damn serious. You making some kind of media production involving a trans woman character? Call me. Is your trans woman pre-transition or early-transition? No prob, Bob, I can do that role – it won’t cause me dysphoria because I’ll be portraying a trans character in media not trying (and often failing) to portray a cis man in my life.

You want to show a trans woman moving through transition? Buddy, I am your fucking huckleberry. You want someone who transitioned a decade ago or more and is just living her god damn life to the best of her ability? My friend, I can do that too.

Fucking call me. Stop stop stop stop calling cis men to keep failing in all the same ways to portray a life they could never ever understand. You don’t ask cis men to portray cis women, stop asking cis men to portray trans women. It’s fucking bullshit

In light of Eddie Redmayne’s Oscar nomination, bringing this fucking back

Welp … Eddie Redmayne just created trans awareness, so I guess it’s time to bring this back…
