Every so often I read a female character and go “Yup, she was written by a man”.
“She crossed her arms over under her breasts.”
Why don’t you just go ahead and write, “She put on her cloak over her shoulders” or “She put on her hat over her head.” Like, what even? I’ve come to really loath that phrase.
SHE CROSSED HER ARMS. THAT’S IT. THAT’S ALL YOU NEEEED!
