My never-properly-socialised rescue kitty is shy to others but affectionate toward me, but even that took a long time. At some point I gave her treats for touching me, and now sometimes she gives ‘ghost headbonks’ – the motion is there, but it’s from 10cm or so away. So cute, it’s like the thought is there but the touch is too much.
I have one of these! I’ve had her for not quite two years now, but she’s still super skittish with me, and I’m her favorite. She has ‘safe spots’ where it’s okay for us to cuddle. But I can never simply walk up to her unless she’s in one of those safe zones, and even then, it’s best if she approaches me there. Might need to try this treat thing. My issue is that our Other cat is friendly af and always around us and gets so excited around food, he’ll end up vomiting. -_-
